Grandma's Sweater

My grandmother gave me this sweater this weekend. I love the bold color, big wooden buttons, and fit: it's knit loosely and the sleeves are oversized. It's so warm too, so I definitely wore it in during the blizzard these past few days.

Let me know what you think!
Any ideas on jewelry?

Slouchy and Soft

In the winter, all I ever want to wear are comfy, cozy sweaters. This turtleneck from American Apparel is the perfect example. Simple, chic, and a wardrobe staple. The sleeves are cuffed, and the neck is an added detail. It falls under the store's unisex category, but when paired correctly the piece is very feminine and just plain pretty. Overall, effortless, easy, and smart.

Pretty In Purple

The Holidays are just around the corner! If you're still scrambling for that perfect outfit, look at this vintage dress from Modcloth. The blend of different shades of deep purple is a great color for winter (aka NOT black, which is so overdone). This frock has some great details: an asymmetrical, one-shoulder top, draped, sheer, layered fabric, and a cinched waist! Pair with some gold jewelry and shoes to pump up the glamour. You'll be sure to stand out.

Style Icon of the Week: Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson is the epitome of effortlessness. The way she dresses is easy and cool, but still feminine and pretty. Taste comes naturally to her. Part bohemian, part sweet, part tailored, Bilson has an eclectic style that is accessible and chic. She is definitely an inspiration.

Camel Coat

I love this camel-colored car coat from Topshop. It's definitely not for outdoors in the middle of winter, but still fabulous in all other ways. It has some great details: the double breasted buttons, peter pan collar, 3/4 length sleeves, etc. Pair it with a skinny pant to balance the wide cut of the coat.

Haute Harem

Harem pants. Need I say more? They have an effortless, cool vibe while still looking completely polished. I think this pair from Topshop is absolutely fab. They have the slouchy look, but aren't too baggy. And the tie at the waste "vamps it up" a little while giving it a chic touch. Since they're made of jersey, they are light and breezy. They're black which also adds to the pants' overall sophistication and they go with everything (obviously). Perfection.

Soft and Sweet

I bought this blouse from Anthropologie last weekend and I absolutely love it. The peter-pan collar, floral pattern, and puff sleeve give it a delicate, girly feel and the buttons make it sweet. I paired it with black skinny pants (a must-have for every woman) and tan and black oxfords. Although it's difficult to tell in the picture, I am also wearing a simple silver necklace that falls just below the collar bone. Any bigger jewelry, and the outfit would have been too busy.

PS. Say hi to my puppy, Toby! He wanted to get in the picture.

Style Icon of the Week: Eric Daman

Designer for the TV phenomenon "Gossip Girl", Eric Daman is responsible for the works of art we see on our favorite Upper-East-Siders every week. His ingenious creations not only add to the show's production level, but also contribute to the viewers' understanding of the characters: the clothing acts as a window into their fabulous lifestyles and personalities. Daman proves that fashion truly is a form of expression.

The Anti-Boyfriend Blazer

Blazers are a staple in every woman's wardrobe. But with so many different styles (Tuxedo, Double Breasted, and the ever-so popular Boyfriend Blazer), how do you know which one to pick?! This one from Urban Outfitters is the perfect mix of casualness and femininity. The shoulders and exposed striped lining are so interesting. And since it's short and perfectly cut, it flatters your figure (unlike the Boyfriend Blazer). You can pair it with virtually anything.

Neither snow, nor rain...

As the temperature continues to drop, the prospect of snow grows each day. A boot is desperately needed for when this time comes (or even a regular rainy day). However, snow boots tend to be clunky and it is very rare that one finds a sleek, fashionable pair. I like these rain boots from Madewell. They come in 5 different colors, but I think this particular pink is so fun. They're 100% rubber, aka waterproof. They have thick rubber soles that grip the ground, so there will be no accidents when you walk down those ice-covered streets. The boots are lined in fleece and promise to keep your feet comfortable and warm. They hit below the calf so you won't feel to stiff or constricted when wearing them. Overall, a great outdoor boot for the upcoming season.

Style Icon of the Week: Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung brings new meaning to the phrase "It-girl". The British fashionista has impeccable taste that has made her stand out among others trying to break into the business. She always looks put together, but is not afraid to take risks. Her success with her past endeavors, such as MTV's "It's On With Alexa Chung" and an assortment of modeling gigs, has allowed her to become a fashion show and red carpet regular. What's more is that she does not show signs of slowing down. Her latest project? A line of clothing for Madewell.

Lived-In Leather

Every woman needs a leather jacket in her wardrobe. I like this one from Anthropologie : brown goes with absolutely everything! The slouchy leather makes it look cool and easy, not stiff. The pockets add detail, without diminishing the beauty of the jacket's simplicity. Plus the motorcycle-chic collar is so edgy. Gotta have it.

Fab Faux Fur

Faux fur is so "in" right now (the operative word being faux). I adore this faux fur coat from Topshop. The texture is rich and the whole look is so chic. My favorite part about this coat is the collar! It's a great fall/early-winter piece, but because the sleeves are only 3/4 length, I wouldn't recommend it for those especially chilly days.

Jazzed about Jewelry

Love jewelry that makes a statement. Especially the metallic, futuristic trend that's so prominent in stores these days, like an oversized gunmetal-gray ring or beaded cuff. Or for a softer approach that still has the pop, a large necklace does the trick.

All from Topshop

Lace-up Luxury

These boots from J.Crew are a must have for the season. They're the perfect mixture of femininity and edge (canvas + leather), and the colors are neutral so they go with everything! They have a heel so you can dress them up or down. The double buckle is just icing on the cake. These boots are certainly a staple in this season's military trend. Holiday wishlist anyone?

Winter Accessories

With winter rapidly approaching, gearing up for the cold weather by stocking up on accessories is a must! I am so looking forward to getting cozy in an assortment of gloves, hats, scarves, etc. Below are a few of my favorite pieces for the season:
Fur-trimmed gloves, fuzzy earmuffs, and knit boho-chic headwrap from Urban Outfitters. Chunky knit scarf from Topshop

Style Icon Of The Week: Brad Goreski

In love with Bravo's "The Rachel Zoe Project" and Brad Goreski. Although Brad is no longer working with Rachel, he certainly has made his mark in the industry and greatly influenced men's fashion. He oozes confidence as he wears bold patterns, colors, and his signature oversized bow-tie.

So sad to see Brad leave TRZP but absolutely cannot wait to see what he does next!

Seasons Greetings: Finding That Perfect Holiday Dress

Latest obsession:

Topshop's limited edition dress collection.
With 12 brand new dresses, in an assortment of styles and colors, you are bound to find the perfect dress for the holiday season. Hopefully this will give you an excuse not to snack on all of that leftover Halloween candy (; and get in the holiday spirit.

Below is my favorite from the collection. I love the 1920s-esque full skirt and flapper-style beading. The neutral colors keep the dress from looking too flashy. But, I mean, who doesn't love a little glitter?

You can view them all at the Topshop website.
